Having a family is expensive and all the expenses associated with a household are overwhelming. Taking time to budget is important to a family’s financial stability. Create a ledger or spreadsheet that tracks all income, bills and spending. Track spending to determine that everything being spent is important and decide what can be cut out. Find other ways to save by switching services (cable & internet, cell phone, car insurance) to plans that are more cost-effective.

Prepaid Credit Cards

Meeting your family’s needs can be difficult. To ensure that your credit score stays stable, use a prepaid debit card which allows you to shop as you normally would, but to spend only the amount you uploaded to the card. While these cards do have a transaction fee, it is worth the cost to save your family from debt.

Essentially, once you go to your bank account to pay bills for the month, the money you need will be there. You will not incur late fees and will not damage your credit. Your credit score is important because it determines the interest rate a lender will give you for personal, auto and home loans in the future. Thus, irresponsible spending now can cost you and your family years later.

Prepaid credit cards are great tools to keep you financially stable. Protect your family and your assets today. Taking time to budget and follow through will ensure your family has everything they need to be successful, healthy individuals. Try a prepaid debit card today!

Toy stores are packed with thousands of brightly colored children’s toys, each promising to educate and entertain. However, some toys have been studied and proven to improve the cognitive growth of children.

The #4 toy that improves a child’s mental capacity is a musical toy meant for children under 12 months old. A baby learns about its surroundings by learning to use its senses, so hearing the noise and associating it with a specific item can help it to process other sounds it will hear in the future.

The #3 toy on the list is a pushing or riding toy for a toddler. This helps build independence, as the child is able to explore the surroundings and learn about the world in which he or she lives.

Toy #2 is a book featuring brightly colored pictures and large text. Many children who enjoy reading can trace this hobby back to their childhood interests and experience at home with books, and those who enjoy reading typically excel more in school.

The #1 top toy for improving the mental capacity of children is a building set, such as connecting blocks or other similar items. This improves hand-eye coordination and allows children to build items and feel accomplished.

When seeking out a good toy store to buy educational toys, Canada 411 can be very useful. The site offers a quick web search to find local stores. Consumers who choose educational toys will to help improve the intellectual capacity of their children, which is a great way to prepare them for the classroom.

Many single moms struggle to afford everything they need to raise a child. If you are among them and want to find a way to afford child care, you should consider your options. There are more than you might think.

One option is getting state aid. You may be leery of applying in case you do not qualify, but most single mothers are eligible to get at least some form of help. You can usually get food stamps or at least WIC to help you pay for food, which would free up some money to pay for child care. Sometimes you can even get a voucher that offers you a certain amount of money every month to pay for daycare.

You can also try to find a job that offers child care. Admittedly, these are few and far between, but more companies are becoming parent-friendly and include free or cheap daycare to attract quality employees. If you go to school, you can look for this same feature since some schools now offer affordable or free child care.

Another option is finding cheap daycare, such as a mother who watches her own kids already and would just like to make a little extra money from home. You may have friends who offer this benefit for a much lower price than others would, so ask around. In fact, you may even be able to trade services, such as cleaning a house for free daycare.

Your daughter’s wish list may include everything from the best dollhouses to the most elaborate children’s books. If she’s old enough to write, she might present her list in written form or simply call out what she wants while you’re driving in the car or tucking her into bed. Satisfying your child’s needs requires understanding her wishes and choosing the best toys and gifts for her development.

Understanding the Wish List

The first thing to do is interpret what your daughter really wants. She may see another child with a Barbie doll and want one just to fit in. This may be a passing wish or a desire that stays with her. When the desire is strong, she’ll likely state her wish repeatedly. Satisfying her wish on a special occasion by giving her a cherished doll and one of the best dollhouses will surely result in a gratitude-filled smile or hug.

Making Balanced Choices

When it comes to fulfilling children’s wishes, parents must often weigh a few factors. Giving a child everything she wants may not necessarily be good for her. For example, one slice of chocolate cake is harmless, but eating half a cake will likely cause a stomach-ache.

The act of discerning wishes and satisfying them can be useful for all involved. Children learn the art and joy of gift giving by receiving gifts. They feel overjoyed to receive their favorite items and learn to make others happy in the same way as they mature. Additionally, whether playing house or learning how to play a computer game, children can have a multitude of learning opportunities from these gifts.

Themed birthday parties are always fun. They can be a little tough on parents, though: a bunch of tiny pirates running around screaming and swinging their plastic swords. But kids love parties, and, ultimately, that’s what’s most important. Memories of a special themed birthday party will last a long time. Here are some tips for where parents can get what they need for a great themed party.

Costumes and Props

A themed birthday party needs costumes or props. A group of little cowboys or princesses are at their best with cowboy hats and plastic guns or glittery gowns and tiaras. Supplies like this are available at specialty shops or at websites like costumeexpress.com.

Decorations

A dinosaur, western, or Harry Potter-themed party might need specific decorations. Party supplies stores carry a lot of these sorts of things. Places like Walmart might even have party supplies. Some websites have a variety of balloons, tableware, decorations, banners, and party favors to fit any theme.

Food

Food served at a princess party should be fit for a princess. Likewise, food served at an outdoor-themed party should be outdoorsy. Parents can order specially made cakes or hunt through cake recipe books from the library. The Internet offers a number of options, such as a neat campfire cake recipe for a camping-themed party.

Putting together a themed party for that seventh birthday or class party may seem somewhat daunting. A great costume shop or party supply store is only as far away as the computer, and the memories made will be worth the effort.

If you don’t have children, you could of the assumption that graduation ceremonies are just for high school and college students. Well think again! These days even preschool students get the honor of a graduation ceremony.

Entering into the scary world of school is daunting, and they a graduation ceremony instills them with confidence about what the future holds. Plus it’s fun! The preschool will probably organize the ceremony, as it will be held there. However there are plenty of cute things you can do for your preschooler to help him or her celebrate such a big grown up milestone.

For girls, spa days are becoming very popular. These days are specially designed with little girls in mind and usually include chocolate face masks and a mini pedicure and manicure.

Another cute idea to help a little girl celebrate her preschool graduation is to have a mommy and daughter sopping day. You could go to the mall, browse the shops, have a nice lunch and even pick out cure outfits for yourselves to wear on the big day.

For boys, nothing beats a day with Dad or another male family member to let him know that his achievement of finishing preschool is a very important step. You can spend the day at the park, riding bikes or playing ball. Or perhaps a day of fishing on a peaceful lake and then cooking up the catch of the day for dinner.

Whatever you decided to do with your little preschool graduate, be sure to let them know they have achieved great things, and will no doubt go on to even greater achievements.

It seems nothing these days can fully satisfy the entertainment needs of a teenager. So what can you do if he or she comes to you looking for ideas on what to do. Check out the couple of ideas for bored teenagers below.

Exercise Them

Most teens are full of energy – they just don’t know it! Get them doing something active, instead of having them mope around the house watching television or playing video games. If you have any national parks nearby, it could be an opportunity for you to explore them together. If not, a walk, bike ride or even something fun like roller skating might be more to their liking. Once you’ve worn them out they won’t complain to you about being bored anymore.

Work Them

Ok, so teens are notorious for not wanting to do housework, but what about cooking? With cooking shows such as Masterchef proving popular among kids of all ages, it could be a great opportunity to get them in the kitchen and teach them how to cook a few basic dishes. If your teen has never lifted a finger in the kitchen before, try just getting them to help with preparing the food initially. As their skills and confidence grow you can then teach them a simple dish, such as lasagna. It it a great way to build confidence and to learn about nutrition.

These two ideas are fairly simple compared to the other kinds of entertainment available for teens today. However it could very well be the simplicity that attracts them to participating.

Turning 21 is a very important milestone for many. It symbolizes a teenager turning into a true adult, moving on to the next stage in his or her life. So what do you get someone who is turning 21? Here are a few gift ideas to get you thinking.

Glasses

No, not the seeing kind, but the drinking kind! 21 marks the point in a person’s life when they can legally drink, so why not mark it with a lovely wine glass or beer stein? There are plenty of styles and designs available for all sorts of tastes, and there are plenty of party shops which will have a custom design put on to the glass for you. For a female try a pretty patter or her name. For a guy, try his name or a funny slogan.

21st Key

The 21st key is an oversized key, usually made out of thick cardboard or wood which is given to the birthday boy or girl as a memento of the occasion. If there is a big 21st birthday bash, then everyone at the party would sign the key and it would be presented to him or her as the key to their adult life. This is popular as it is a classic keepsake that can be looked upon at anytime with fond memories.

These are just a couple of ideas for 21st birthday presents. Think about the person who you are buying for. Would they like something to receive that will be a keepsake for the occasion?
