Themed birthday parties are always fun. They can be a little tough on parents, though: a bunch of tiny pirates running around screaming and swinging their plastic swords. But kids love parties, and, ultimately, that’s what’s most important. Memories of a special themed birthday party will last a long time. Here are some tips for where parents can get what they need for a great themed party.

Costumes and Props

A themed birthday party needs costumes or props. A group of little cowboys or princesses are at their best with cowboy hats and plastic guns or glittery gowns and tiaras. Supplies like this are available at specialty shops or at websites like costumeexpress.com.

Decorations

A dinosaur, western, or Harry Potter-themed party might need specific decorations. Party supplies stores carry a lot of these sorts of things. Places like Walmart might even have party supplies. Some websites have a variety of balloons, tableware, decorations, banners, and party favors to fit any theme.

Food

Food served at a princess party should be fit for a princess. Likewise, food served at an outdoor-themed party should be outdoorsy. Parents can order specially made cakes or hunt through cake recipe books from the library. The Internet offers a number of options, such as a neat campfire cake recipe for a camping-themed party.

Putting together a themed party for that seventh birthday or class party may seem somewhat daunting. A great costume shop or party supply store is only as far away as the computer, and the memories made will be worth the effort.

Preschool Graduation Ideas

If you don’t have children, you could of the assumption that graduation ceremonies are just for high school and college students. Well think again! These days even preschool students get the honor of a graduation ceremony.

Entering into the scary world of school is daunting, and they a graduation ceremony instills them with confidence about what the future holds. Plus it’s fun! The preschool will probably organize the ceremony, as it will be held there. However there are plenty of cute things you can do for your preschooler to help him or her celebrate such a big grown up milestone.

  • For girls, spa days are becoming very popular. These days are specially designed with little girls in mind and usually include chocolate face masks and a mini pedicure and manicure.
  • Another cute idea to help a little girl celebrate her preschool graduation is to have a mommy and daughter sopping day. You could go to the  mall, browse the shops, have a nice lunch and even pick out cure outfits for yourselves to wear on the big day.
  • For boys, nothing beats a day with Dad or another male family member to let him know that his achievement of finishing preschool is a very important step. You can spend the day at the park, riding bikes or playing ball. Or perhaps a day of fishing on a peaceful lake and then cooking up the catch of the day for dinner.

Whatever you decided to do with your little preschool graduate, be sure to let them know they have achieved great things, and will no doubt go on to even greater achievements.
